White sands, crystal clear waters, and a plastic bottle
LUQEL first began when its founder reached into the turquoise waters of the Carribean ocean and plucked out an old plastic water bottle.
The brand on its worn label was as German as the man now reading it. This single-use plastic water bottle had floated over 8,000km to reach its destination. Enjoyed for five minutes, a bottle like this could take up to 450 years to decompose.
It was at that moment that Josef Schucker thought: there has to be a better way.

We do not need harmful, single-use plastics to meet that demand.
We’re all about putting our money where our mouth is. That’s why we intend to reduce the global annual consumption of plastic bottles by 5 billion from 2026.

Why LUQEL?
The LUQEL story began when our founder Josef Schucker saw first-hand just how many plastic bottles have polluted the world’s oceans.
Understanding that people will always want to enjoy delicious, clean mineralised water, Josef questioned whether disposable plastic bottles were necessary to fulfil that need.
The answer was, of course, no. Instead, what if you could hydrate with the finest quality water simply by turning a proverbial tap in your own kitchen or workspace?
Four years and 35 registered patents later, LUQEL has realised this dream and made intelligent water ecosystems a reality.
Employing over 100 experts across three European countries, our team has dedicated themselves to creating a safe, innovative and highly intelligent hydration experience for you to enjoy.
Not only that, but sustainability is still at the very heart of what we do – and why we do it.
We’re serious about eliminating the need for consumption of 5 billion plastic bottles per annum from 2026. And we plan on sharing the satisfaction that comes with cleaner oceans with valued partners like you.
